| The characteristics of the five
elements of "Wu Xing" are as follows: |
 Water: |
runs downwards, liberal. |
 Wood: |
grows upwards, enduring. |
 Fire: |
spreads in all directions, radiant and hot. |
 Metal: |
pierce inwards, sharp and pointing. |
 Earth: |
attracts and concentrates, stable. |

The core of Chinese sciences of the Universe: Feng
Shui, revolves around the understanding of the importance of these five
Important Elements. According to ancient Chinese, these Five Elements are
interactive which stimulate and shape our daily life. |
It is important to understand that there is a natural order of the Five Elements in which leads to harmony, prosperity and happiness. The productive sequence, shown in the left, is as follows: water nourishes plants/trees thus produces wood; burning wood makes fire; fire burns things into ashes to form earth; earth is the source of metal; and metal melts into liquid (kind of water).

 There is also a destructive order, the red arrows shown in the left, which is the cause of bad events and calamities. This is a result
of the disturbances to the natural order. This is where: water puts out
fire; fire melts metal; metal breaks wood; wood (roots of plants)
penetrates the earth; and earth is absorbes water. In this situation, Feng
Shui experts will advice you to place a neutralizing element to avoid such
harmful effects. |
